Baseload Power for a Carbon-Free Future
StarCore Nuclear is a Canadian developer of Generation IV Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) that provide reliable and safe energy for off-grid communities and industries
Our design incorporates proven technologies and multiple redundancies for safety and reliability.
We are moving toward first commercial power in 2030 and have already achieved major supply chain and regulatory milestones.
Technology
Our 10 MWe reactor platform is specifically engineered for the unique requirements of the most remote applications
No Water Required
The helium-cooled design eliminates the need for nearby bodies of water. This allows for siting in arid or rugged locations, which is common for mining and community sites.
Modular Off-Site Fabrication
All components are prefabricated. On-site work is limited to the foundation, concrete silo, and final assembly, dramatically reducing construction timelines.
Passive and Inherent Safety
Our reactor uses TRISO fuel which is proven to be walk-away safe. The HTGR design includes multiple redundancies and is defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency as being “inherently safe”.
Scalable Power Output
Additional reactor cores can be added to our base 10 MWe unit, enabling our design to be scaled to meet the specific needs of communities and industries.
Not Just Electricity
Our reactor operates at extremely high temperatures and our gas coolant is especially efficient at transferring heat. This supports electricity generation, high-grade process heat and water desalination from a single installation.
Remote Diagnostics
Continuous satellite monitoring ensures safe and consistent operations. The majority of our bandwidth is unused and is donated to our host communities.
6x35
35MWt per reactor and up to 6 cores per operation
The Case for StarCore
Our model and foundations are unique in the Canadian nuclear landscape:
Contracted Revenue Model
We will own and operate all of our SMRs, securing 20- to 40-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with creditworthy utilities and industrial off-takers to create long-duration, infrastructure-grade assets.
Validated Regulatory Pathway
Versatile Nuclear Technology
Our reactor platform is engineered for high-temperature output and inherent safety, specifically optimized for remote community and industrial applications that traditional nuclear cannot serve.
Broad Community Enthusiasm
We have created strong connections with the neighbours of our Demonstration Reactor, evidenced by 5 First Nations MOUs and 27 local letters of support.
Demonstration Reactor
The first StarCore facility will be built near Pinawa, Manitoba at the Whiteshell Laboratories nuclear research facility. It offers a welcoming community and essential existing infrastructure that is difficult to replicate:
Grid Connectivity
The site features an established electrical grid connection, eliminating significant capital expenditure and permitting hurdles common to greenfield SMR sites.
Room to Grow
The site includes over 1,000 acres which can be used to build multiple reactors and test secondary applications such as hydrogen fuel production, water purification, district heating, indoor agriculture, and nuclear-renewable integration.
Leveraged Infrastructure
Access to decades of geotechnical and environmental data accelerates the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission review process. Local access to experienced nuclear personnel provides a specialized labor pool.
15,000
Number of homes in a community that can be powered by a StarCore 2-core operation
Established Social License
Meaningful community and Indigenous partnerships are at the core of our development strategy. StarCore has moved beyond simple consultation to establish true economic and strategic alignment.
Indigenous Partnerships
We have signed five Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with First Nations, ensuring meaningful progress on the Duty to Consult and creating pathways for community economic participation.
Broad Support
Our project is backed by 27 letters of support from municipalities and regional institutions throughout the Whiteshell area.
Sustained Engagement
Our 15-year history of local presence and transparency has established a foundation of trust that minimizes project opposition and streamlines the Impact Assessment process.
Investor Benefits
StarCore provides early-stage capital with structured incentives designed to reward early participation and de-risk the path to public markets.
SAFE Structure
We use a Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) to provide investors with a streamlined right to future equity. This minimizes friction by delaying valuation until a priced round or liquidity event, allowing capital to flow directly into project milestones.
Preferred IPO Pricing
Early participants receive a predetermined discount on the Initial Public Offering (IPO) price. This ensures supporters benefit from the significant value created during the development and licensing phases relative to public market investors.
42% IRR
Based on a build-out of ten operations within the first 12 years, the investment generates significant returns.
Key De-risking Milestones
We have systematically addressed the primary risks in bringing a nuclear project to commercial operation
Supply Chain
Signed fuel supply agreement, securing this fundamental component in a highly competitive market. Confirmed partners for other services including legal, engineering and construction, all of which are Canadian.
Commercial
40-year PPA in advanced negotiation; recurring revenue targeted for 2030.
Regulatory
Stage I site application approved by CNL; 15+ years of CNSC relationship backing our final application submission. Canada has a defined framework for regulating SMRs and has earmarked $5B to facilitate their deployment.
Corporate
PCAOB audit complete, establishing SEC-standard financial controls and ensuring readiness for institutional or public capital markets.
Market Opportunity
StarCore’s SMRs are a scalable, carbon-free alternative to the diesel that overwhelmingly powers remote communities and industries.
Remote Communities
58 communities across Canada currently rely on expensive, carbon-intensive diesel ($0.22 to >$1.00 / kWh).
Natural Resources
$632B in planned Canadian resource projects require reliable baseload power far from the traditional grid.
All-in-One Power
Our high-grade process heat simplifies logistics for mining, oil sands, hydrogen production, and data centers.
